Where does your donation go? The journey of your gift to Le Silence des Justes

Le Silence Des Justes - Where does your donation go? The journey of your gift to Le Silence des Justes

From your bank account to an autistic child and their family — we trace the exact path of your donation, explain how it is used, and outline the legal guarantees that protect you as a donor.

Giving to a charity is an act of trust. Trust in the people who champion the cause, in how the money is used, in the reality of the impact. We never take that trust lightly.

This article traces the exact path your donation takes — from your bank account to an autistic child and their family we support. We also include the key legal and financial information you need to give with full confidence.

The path of your donation — in 5 steps

What actually happens between the moment you click “Donate” and the moment an autistic child and their family receive support? Here is the full picture.

Your donation reaches us

As soon as we receive your payment, we record it in our accounts within 48 hours, separately from public subsidies. Under French law governing nonprofit associations (Article 6 of the law of 1 July 1901), we are authorized to receive donations directly — in cash, by bank transfer, by check, or online.

1
Received & recorded
Your donation is recorded within 48 hours, kept separate from public funding. Every cent is traceable.
2
Instant confirmation & official receipt
You receive an email confirmation, accompanied by your official donation receipt. A duplicate is available at any time in your donor dashboard. Keep it for three years in case of a tax audit.
3
Allocated to our programs
Your donation is allocated to our core programs: family support, professional training, educational resources, awareness events.
4
Real impact on the ground
A family supported, a professional trained, an awareness initiative funded, an autistic child better understood by those around them.
5
Annual report
Each year, our activity report details how the funds we received were used. Transparency isn’t optional — it’s a moral obligation to you.

Your donation receipt

Your official donation receipt is sent to you by email as soon as your donation is confirmed. A duplicate remains available at any time in your donor dashboard. You do not need to attach it to any tax return, but you should keep it for a minimum of three years in case of verification by tax authorities.

📋 What your receipt contains
Your receipt specifies the exact amount of your donation, the date of payment, the identity of the association, and confirmation that Le Silence des Justes is a public-interest organization eligible for tax relief under French law. French tax authorities may audit the receipts we issue and verify that amounts recorded match donations actually received.

Tax benefits

If you are a French taxpayer, your donation may be eligible for a French income tax reduction of 66% to 75%, depending on the type of organization supported. Rates, caps, and how to declare your donation change from year to year — for full, up-to-date details, please refer to the French version of this article or consult your tax advisor.

What your donation makes possible

Tax matters aside, what really counts is the impact. Here is what your donation concretely funds.

💬
A listening session for a parent

An exhausted, isolated parent who has just learned their child’s diagnosis. One hour with a trained professional — psychologist, social worker, specialist educator. Sometimes, that is all they need to keep going.

📚
Support for siblings

Siblings of autistic children are often the system’s forgotten ones. Tailored educational tools, a support group, a moment of attention. Sometimes, an entire family finds its footing again.

🎓
Training a professional

A better-trained educator means better care for every child they support. In 2024, the association trained nearly 400 staff members through its skills development program (2024 Activity Report — Skills Development Plan, OPCO Santé).

🏫
An awareness session in a school

Speaking to a classroom about difference, autism, and inclusion. Changing how a couple dozen children see the world. Sometimes, it changes the life of just one.

📈 An organization running at full capacity
In 2024, our facilities operated at over 100% of their authorized capacity — the IME at 101.40%, the MAS at 97.61% (2024 Activity Report — Activity Overview). With more than 900 staff members supporting 265 beneficiaries, and 85% of those supported 365 days a year, around the clock (2024 Activity Report — Retrospective, interview with the Executive Director), every donation helps sustain a level of commitment that few organizations can match.

Your legal guarantees of transparency

As a public-interest association under French law, Le Silence des Justes follows a set of legal obligations designed to protect donors:
