Autism First

What We Do Every Day

Since 1996, Le Silence des Justes has supported people with autism (ASD) and their families with one unwavering conviction: inclusion in mainstream society is not a utopia, it is a right.

A non-profit organization recognized by the French State, Le Silence des Justes operates across three complementary areas: defending the rights of people with disabilities, the development and management of medico-social facilities (IME, MAS, CUM, inclusive living spaces), and scientific and technological research to continuously improve support practices for people with ASD.

Our Missions Nationwide

Seven concrete commitments for a truly inclusive society.

01

Individual Development & Social Inclusion

National

The primary mission of Le Silence des Justes is to encourage individualized autism support. Our multidisciplinary approach has helped achieve educational, therapeutic, and social goals.

Our teams include specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses, psychologists and neuropsychologists, psychomotor therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, specialized educators, educational instructors, activity coordinators, and child psychiatrists working together to build a tailored life project whose ultimate goal is real and lasting inclusion in mainstream society: at school, at work, in leisure activities, and in housing.

Rights Advocacy & Well-Being

National

Le Silence des Justes is above all a defender of rights. Our role goes beyond medico-social support: we actively work to uphold the fundamental rights of people with disabilities, in direct collaboration with the ARS, MDPH, and departmental councils.

This includes access to healthcare, recognition of disability compensation needs, and representation within decision-making bodies. The IGAS recognized our unconditional support approach as a rare quality within the French medico-social sector.

Creation & Management of Medico-Social Facilities

National

Since receiving its first ARS approval in 2007, Le Silence des Justes has continuously opened and managed new facilities to meet the growing needs of people with autism (ASD). Today, our network includes IMEs, MAS facilities, Medical Emergency Units (CUM), residential units, and inclusive living spaces spread across 7 French cities.

In January 2024, the signing of our first CPOM (Multi-Year Objectives and Resources Agreement) marked a decisive step in structuring our services. In 2025, the CUM welcomed autistic individuals from other French regions such as Corsica, Grand Est, and Brittany.

Awareness & Changing Social Perceptions

National

The work of Le Silence des Justes continuously raises public awareness. The 2015 documentary "We Should Make a Film About It" launched ongoing awareness initiatives aimed at the general public, companies, and institutions to transform perceptions of disability and autism. The film The Specials by Nakache and Toledano, directly inspired by the association, reached millions of viewers and contributed to this mission of public awareness.

We developed a unique and carefully designed project to promote autism awareness in schools, leisure centers, and holiday camps. We have signed several agreements, including one with the Paris education authority.

Professional Integration for Adults with Autism

Innovation

Inclusion does not stop at schooling. Le Silence des Justes firmly believes that every adult with autism has talents waiting to be expressed. That is why we developed a unique professional integration division: woodworking workshops, gardening workshops, an adapted employment company, and La Table des Justes, our inclusive training restaurant inaugurated in 2024.

These structures are part of a genuine entrepreneurial dynamic. The training provided serves as a real stepping stone toward mainstream employment, where our beneficiaries can finally achieve meaningful and fulfilling recognition.

Influencing Public Policies

National

Le Silence des Justes does more than fieldwork — it actively contributes to shaping public policies for autistic individuals. Our Small Residential Units experiment for autistic people with highly complex situations directly inspired the national framework established by the interministerial delegation for autism.

We participate in steering committees for medico-social systems, respond to project calls, and actively contribute proposals for improving support services. Our model is now recognized by public authorities as a benchmark.

Support & Active Family Participation

National

Autism affects the entire family in their daily challenges. Le Silence des Justes has always considered families essential partners. We offer a complete range of support services: 24/7 assistance, help understanding diagnoses, respite stays, support through aging, and participation in building individualized support plans.

Beyond support, we encourage families and relatives of beneficiaries to actively participate in the life of the association — in decisions, events, and governance. Because successful inclusion is always built with the people around the individual, never without them.

“Autism First! Every day, by supporting children with autism in schools and training institutions to understand their needs, we are building the inclusive society of tomorrow.”

International

Beyond Borders

In partnership with the Interministerial Delegation for Autism and French embassies, Le Silence des Justes shares its knowledge, interpersonal expertise, and professional know-how with people with autism around the world.

Awareness conferences and seminars are organized for families and professionals in Cameroon, Israel, and Morocco, as well as the Comoros and Mauritania. The association also participates in scientific research programs in cooperation with universities to ensure rigorous evaluation of its practices.
